Veterinary Nurse

We know the veterinary nursing world is full of people who care. We also know that it often offers only a very linear career pathway, and we want to change that. We are excitedly recruiting for an ambitious RVN to join our team (currently 4 experienced RVNs, 3 students, 1 ANA) at our lovely site in East Sheen where we act as a hybrid clinic, seeing both first opinion and referral cases.

Pet People is an award-winning independent small animal veterinary practice in East Sheen. We want to find motivated and professional Registered Veterinary Nurses to work alongside our experienced team, helping us provide excellent standards of care for both patients and clients.

We believe in growing a culture where everyone has input into the development of the practice. We pride ourselves on using our nursing team to their full potential while also helping everyone receive excellent training and career progression.

In addition to excellent levels of pay, based on experience and performance, we offer employees the opportunity to take part in our share scheme where we can all benefit from the long-term growth of the business.

How many days will I work?
Our nursing team work a compressed week, of 4 x 10.5 hour days. This is a popular shift pattern and allows plenty of time away from work for fun and relaxation. We are also open to a 5 day working week with shorter days.

What will my day-to-day look like?

  • Taking part in the morning “huddle” – as an independent practice we want everyone to have a voice.

  • Clinical work to include: nurse consults, GA planning and monitoring, patient recovery, bloods, cannula placement, nursing of hospitalised patients.

  • Working with the rest of the team to ensure the smooth running of the day: this will include cleaning, processing lab samples, client communication, training of students, and emergency case management.

  • Liaising with vets and CCA team to optimise clinical and customer outcomes.

  • Supporting colleagues to perform great and pioneering clinical work, while offering exceptional customer service.

  • Being part of a social team – you’ll likely spend more time at the practice than you do sleeping so it’s worth having fun! We’ve done rock climbing, art classes, yoga sessions, and plenty of takeaways and casual trips to the local pubs and restaurants.

What about my birthday?
We will give you a day off on your birthday, so you can relax and just celebrate being you!

What is the weekend rota?
We share the rota as equally as possible so it can change depending on the size of our nursing team. The weekend rota is approximately 1 in 6 weekends, where you will work a full day on Saturday and a half day on Sunday. You will get time back in lieu for the days worked.
