Any dog who routinely comes into contact with other dogs should be vaccinated against kennel cough.

However, the most common bacterium to cause kennel cough is Bordetella bronchiseptica, which can be given as a separate vaccine, through a few small liquid drops in to the mouth.

The kennel cough vaccine can be given at any time and may be a requirement for your dog to attend day care or boarding kennels.

The kennel cough vaccine is included in our Family Membership Plan.

Neutering

  • £850

A laparoscopic spay is a neutering procedure that involves removing just the ovaries via one or two very small incisions in the abdomen.

The operation site is much smaller than a traditional spay procedure meaning a shorter recovery time and a lower risk of complications.

This price is inclusive of the full anaesthetic, any medication to go home with, a post-operative recovery vest, and a two post-op checks.

We are happy to offer this service even for dogs weighing less than 10kg.

  • £450

This procedure requires your pet to have a full general anaesthetic and both testicles are completely removed.

The recovery time is 7-14 days.

This price is inclusive of the full anaesthetic, any medication to go home with, a post-operative recovery vest and a two post-op checks.

  • 6 months: £145

    12 months: £259

Chemical castration is an option that is available to you if you do not want your male pet to undergo a surgical procedure.

It involves the placement of an implant under the skin, during a standard appointment. We often use cold spray to numb the skin before placement and it is generally tolerated well.

This is a temporary ‘try-before-you-buy’ approach to castration, for owners who wish to see the behavioural impact castration will have on their pet.

Please note that we cannot offer an equivalent chemical treatment for female pets.

  • £300

This price is inclusive of the procedure itself, medication to go home with, a post-operative surgical suit or collar, and two post-op checks.

  • £250

This price is inclusive of the procedure itself, medication to go home with, a post-operative collar, and two post-op checks.

  • £350

We offer neutering for small mammals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as ferrets and some other exotics.

This price is inclusive of the anaesthetic, medication and post-operative checks.

Dental Care

  • £60

Our standard consultations are with a veterinary surgeon and are fifteen minutes long.

We would always recommend having a consultation with either a vet or nurse before we can give an estimate for a dental procedure.

We can give your pet a full health examination and assess your pet’s teeth and gums.

You can also bring your pet in for a dental consultation with our nurses, who can demonstrate tooth brushing and dental care.

These consultations are FREE if you join our Family Health Membership.

  • £350-450

Our dental scale and polish requires a full anaesthetic. Your pet will receive full mouth X-rays as standard.

This price includes the general anaesthetic, all medications, fluid therapy and any medication to go home with if necessary. Your pet will. be monitored by an experienced nurse throughout.

This procedure will remove any heavy tartar from teeth, clean them up and make them look pearly white. We even finish with a minty toothpaste for extra fresh breath!

Please note: if there are any teeth that require extraction, we will contact you before removing any teeth.

  • £500-£1000

The extent of dental disease isn’t always clear until we have anaesthetised a pet, thoroughly examined their teeth, and used x-rays to see what’s happening below their gum line.

Simply put, if your pet’s teeth are in good health above and below the gum line, they may only require a clean, and maybe one or two small teeth extracted.

However, in many cases, by the time an animal reaches the vet, their dental disease is very advanced. Advanced dental disease can make leave your pet’s gums infected, and very painful. If this is the case, we must remove the problem teeth to make your pet more comfortable. Along with more complex surgical extractions of teeth comes increased anaesthetic time, more medication and therefore a higher price.

Our prices are all inclusive of the anaesthetic, IV fluids as standard , long-acting nerve blocks to keep your pet comfortable, painkillers to take home, and any follow-up checks.

General Surgery

  • £1040

A lump removal procedure will often require a full general anaesthetic.

The price for this procedure may vary depending on the size and position of the lump being removed. This can result in a more complex or longer surgery.

In most cases, the lump will be sent off to our external lab for analysis. If this is required, it will be included in the price.

If your pet requires a medical pet shirt or collar after the procedure, this is also included.

  • £650

If your pet has developed an abscess (a painful pocket of pus under the skin), it is often advisable to have it drained under sedation or general anaesthetic.

In most cases, your pet will also require a course of antibiotics and pain relief whilst healing from this surgery.

  • £600 - £3300

Foreign bodies can range from grass seeds stuck in the ears to bits of tennis ball lodged in your pet’s tummy. Either way, they’re items that are inside your pet’s body, but shouldn’t be!

Depending on the type of object, and the area it needs to be removed from, prices can vary greatly.

In some cases a light sedation may be enough to remove a grass seed; for a more advanced foreign body removal, surgery and further diagnostics may need to be performed.

Diagnostic Procedures

  • £600 - 800

If your pet becomes unwell or has a potential fracture to a limb or other body area, an X-ray can help us discover the source of the problem.

X-rays provide a clear image for our vets, helping them to determine what treatment your pet needs in order to feel better.

In some cases, further imaging, such as a CT scan or ultrasound, may be needed to fully diagnose a problem.

  • £310 - £680

Ultrasound is a valuable tool in veterinary medicine due to its non-invasive nature and ability to provide real-time imaging of internal structures in animals.

Being able to visualise organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys, helps our vets to diagnose pets’ medical conditions and monitor their organ function.

  • £1100 - £2300

Price is dependent on the number of areas which need to be scanned.

These scans are incredible for helping to uncover complex conditions, and are done under a full general anaesthetic.

For more information on CT scanning, click here.

  • £385- £940

We are able to offer a heart scan with one of our veterinary surgeons.

In most cases we will try to do this while your pet is conscious; however, if this is causing any stress to them, we will discuss the option of a light sedation to relax your pet as much as possible.

The higher end of the pricing range is for a heart scan and ECG with our cardiac specialist.

  • £1600-1800

Many areas of the body can be assessed using one of our scopes — a tiny camera attached to a long thin tube.

This includes the lungs, the bladder, the stomach, small intestine, nasal passages and large intestine.

The price includes removal of any foreign bodies or the taking of samples for biopsy.

  • £165

Ultrasound imaging can be used to conduct pregnancy scans for pregnant bitches and queens.

Please note our veterinary surgeons will not be able to give you any exact information on the litter, such as quantity or sex.

Pregnancy scans can indicate the presence or absence of pregnancy but are not a 100% accurate diagnosis tool.

  • £1670

This procedure is to investigate respiratory issues such as coughing, wheezing or any other breathing difficulty.

The procedure includes a full respiratory work-up comprising x-rays, endoscopy, bronchioalveolar lavage (BAL) and laboratory testing, performed under general anaesthetic.

  • £680 (excluding BVA fee )

X-rays of your pet’s hips and elbows, taken under sedation or anaesthetic, prior to breeding.

Please see below for more information.

    BVA Hip Scoring.

Laboratory Tests

  • £66-245

Our in-house laboratory allows us to run blood samples accurately and quickly, identifying a wide range of conditions.

This is particularly useful for urgent situations, emergencies, and pre-operative blood testing.

External lab testing expands our diagnostic capabilities to encompass many hundreds of tests.

  • £42 - £115

Testing may include biochemistries, glucose tests, hormone levels, bacterial cultures and microscope examination of any sediment or crystals.

  • £93-152

Faecal testing can give us insight into infestations with parasites, viral and bacterial infections, and undigested foods.

  • £108

Sometimes in emergency situations we need an answer straight away. Our in house clotting time tests do just that, and save lives.

This test is also useful before surgery and liver biopsies to ensure there are no nasty surprises.

Pet People Pro

Pet People Pro brings you referral-level treatment options, in-house. No second location necessary!

  • £3900 - £4600

Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy (TPLO) is a surgical procedure to stabilise a stifle (knee) with a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament.

The cranial cruciate ligament is one of the main stabilisers of the stifle joint, preventing forward movement of the tibia (shinbone) relative to the femur (thighbone). For more information on the procedure, see the information sheet here.

A TPLO can be done at the clinic by our own Pet People surgery team. Alternatively, if you would like the surgery to be done by a member of the specialist orthopaedic team from Pro Vet Surg this can be organised.

The higher price for this surgery represents the orthopaedic specialist option.

  • £4050

Breeds with a short muzzle and flattened face, such as English bulldogs, French bulldogs, and pugs, are described as brachycephalic, meaning “short-headed”.

These patients often have narrow nostrils, overly-long soft palates and narrow windpipes which can lead to obstruction of the flow of air through their upper airways. This causes the dog difficulty in breathing, regulating their body temperature, and exercising.

Surgery aims to improve the dog’s breathing by widening the airways and allowing adequate oxygen to reach the lungs, reducing panting and overheating.

For more information about BOAS surgery, visit the information sheet here.

  • £3000 - £6500

    CT scan, scope and surgery
