Booster Vaccinations for dogs
Keeping your dog’s vaccinations up to date is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect their long-term health
Every booster appointment at PetPeople includes a full veterinary health check, a review of your dog’s wellbeing at home and outdoors, and tailored advice to keep them fit, happy and protected throughout the year.
Why booster vaccinations matter
We routinely vaccinate dogs against several serious diseases, including parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis and leptospirosis. For some diseases, this immunity is long-lasting, and will only need occasional boosting; however, immunity fades more quickly for other diseases, such as leptospirosis and kennel cough.
Yearly boosters are essential to ensure your dog is fully protected. Regular vaccination keeps your dog’s immunity strong and prevents these illnesses from circulating in the community.
More about booster vaccinations
Your dog’s annual health check
At every booster appointment we carry out a full clinical examination, checking your dog’s heart, lungs, eyes, ears, mouth, skin, joints and weight. We also take time to discuss diet, behaviour, exercise, mobility and any changes you may have noticed at home. This is a key opportunity to catch early signs of illness and keep track of long-term health trends.
Health questionnaire
As part of our preventative care approach, we ask all owners to complete a short annual health questionnaire. This helps us understand your dog’s lifestyle and any subtle changes that may not be obvious during the appointment, ensuring we tailor our care specifically to their needs.
Prescription parasite protection
Booster appointments are also when we authorise the prescribing of prescription-strength external and internal parasite treatments for the year ahead. These medicines are far more effective and safer than non-prescription, supermarket, or over-the-counter products, and your vet will recommend a plan that suits your dog’s age, size and lifestyle. Preventing parasites protects both your dog and your family, especially in urban areas where lungworm is increasingly common.
PetPeople Health Plan
If your dog is on our PetPeople Health Plan, all booster vaccinations, parasite treatments and consultations are fully included, giving year-round protection and peace of mind.
