Pet travel beyond the EU
Travelling with your pet
Travelling further afield with your pet can be a rewarding experience, whether you are visiting family, relocating or planning an extended adventure. Many pets cope very well with long journeys when the right preparation is in place. Our team is here to support you every step of the way and help make the process as smooth as possible.
Understanding the requirements
Travel outside Europe can be significantly more complex than travel to the EU. Every country has its own entry rules for pets, and these often involve multiple steps such as blood tests, laboratory checks, export paperwork and specific time frames. Some destinations require months of preparation.
For this reason, the very first step is to research the requirements for your chosen destination using official UK Government guidance on pet exports. This ensures you have the most accurate, current information from the start.
For further questions about international travel rules, you can contact APHA directly.

Specialist pet travel companies can also be extremely helpful if you are unsure where to begin or if the requirements feel overwhelming.

Once you understand the requirements for your destination, please send all the information to us in writing by email. This allows us to work with you to plan the correct appointments, prepare the right paperwork and make sure everything is completed within the required time frames.
-
Depending on the country you are travelling to, your pet may need one or more appointments with a vet. These can include:
Appointments may be required for:
Vaccine titre tests
Fit to Fly certificates
Vaccinations
Administration of medications
Recording your pet's microchip number
Testing for diseases
This is not an exhaustive list. The exact steps will vary depending on your destination.

International pet travel often requires a long lead time. Some countries require a waiting period of several months after blood tests, and missing a deadline can delay your travel. The sooner you begin your research, the easier and less stressful the process will be.
We are always happy to help guide you through each stage once you have confirmed the requirements for your destination. To start booking, just contact our team and we will help you prepare for a safe and happy journey abroad.
