Dominique Calton

Lead veterinary nurse

Dominique began her nursing career with horses before making the move into small animal practice. She joined a clinic in Oxford where she worked her way up from student to head veterinary nurse over twelve years, five of those in the head nurse role. After that, she took a deliberate step back from management to work in a lovely rural practice in South Oxfordshire before joining PetPeople, ready for a new challenge in a well-equipped and welcoming environment.

At home are three cats, Cosmo, Bliss and Daji. Daji arrived as a feral foster kitten, never left, and definitely isn’t feral anymore!

In her spare time, Dominique enjoys archery and continues to ride a friend's pony she has known for ten years, exploring the countryside and finding new places to stop for brunch. Her travels around Europe have heavily influenced her cooking, and she loves recreating dishes from her trips: kielbasa on the barbecue, warm pastel de nata with coffee, French cheese and fresh bread, arancini, traditional Spanish tapas. That said, her favourite dish is a traditional British roast dinner.

“Would highly recommend bringing your pets here. Nice to see an independent practice! Highly trust Dr Stroud's judgement and gold standard care of my pets.”
